About:

I've been an educator for more than 30 years and absolutely love the students, staff, and families at Cabrillo! My daughter went to school in Wiseburn and I admired then and continue to admire the talents of the teachers, the dedication of the staffm and the strong home-school connections. We are united by our care for children and daily experince simple joys and celebrations of academic and social growth. Cabrillo truly is a place where we "grow and learn toegether!"

"Where We Grow and Learn Together"

Dear Cabrillo Families and Friends,

Last week I received an email from a retired Wiseburn teacher who volunteers with us three days a week.  He wrote ..."there are happy children at Cabrillo.  Their home life is an important factor, but also very important is the 'school climate' and children at Cabrillo feel they are liked by their teachers and administrator..."  In this month of celebrating love and kindness, I am so grateful for the caring teachers and adults that surround our children so that they can happily learn and grow at Cabrillo!

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents that are responding to the invitation to help teach the PTA "Hands on Art" project in your child's classroom 1/23 - 2/3.  You are creating another memorable Cabrillo experience for all our children and giving your own child the special experience of seeing you at school and in their classroom with their friends and their teacher!

Friday, February 10, Progress Reports will go home to first and second graders whose grades in Reading, Writing, or Math currently place them at risk for retention.  Teachers may invite you to a parent conference the week of February 13-17 to strengthen our school-home connection in support of the academic progress of students prior to Trimester 2 report cards which go home on March 24.  All students are Early Birds February 13-17 and there is no ELD or Reading Intervention that week to support the parent conference schedule.

Thank you for recognizing and nurturing your child's academic efforts, social skills, and love for school!

We continue forward together,

Margaret Lynch

Seguimos adelante juntos,

Sra. Margaret Lynch, Directora

A California Distinguished School

Juan Cabrillo Elementary was founded in 1949. It is one of the four elementary schools in the Wiseburn School District in the city of Hawthorne, California.

After almost sixty years of service, the original structure of Juan Cabrillo Elementary was demolished in July of 2007 in order to make way for the district’s newest and most technologically advanced school. The new facilities opened in January of 2009.
